The boatman at Sarawak River

This would be my second time in Kuching. The first was when I followed Ibu to her meeting in Kuching. Well, not exactly follow, since i arrived after she iwas done with her meeting.

This time, we are brought to Kuching because my cousin is marrying a Sarawakian. So we are here for the ceremony and chose to stay at Riverside Majestic. I rented a Myvi for our entire use while we are there. We arrived in Kuching around 12 am and went straight to the hotel to rest.

Our hotel.

The rooms are okay but the room service? I dont think they have such thing. I called for a late supper and the phone was left unanswered for 7 times. Gave up, I continue to sleep. The Nikah was held before noon. By the help of Waze, we reached the area without hassle.

After the ceremony, we went food hunting - as always. BTW, during lunch, we were served with typical Sarawak dishes which were very delicious! I love it! One of the dish is Manuk Pansuh which is chicken cooked in bamboo. I go for second after that.

We then went to search for Mee Kolok. I love the Mee Kolok Haji Salleh but when we get there, it was closed. We went to Kubah Ria instead to have the ADM Mee Kolok which is not bad. For dinner, we went to the famous Bukit Mata. I ate a lot of seafood that night.

Seafood time!

After dinner, we went for a stroll along the Sarawak River where there is a Festival Kooperasi malaysia - something like that.

The next day, after breakfast, we went to the reception. This is where I am introduced with the custom called "Nasi Temuan". This is where the bride and groom compete on feeding each other. Who ever gets fed, they lose. It was a custom on to bring the bride and groom closer after marriage.

After the wedding, we straight away went to Kubah Ria where my mom buys some blackpepper and Terubuk masin to bring home. We then went to hunt for D'Wanie Kek lapis - the best Sarawak layered cake producer before going to Kampung Boyan for some other layered cake.

This Pak Cik give us an extra discount. His stall is in Kubah Ria

D'Wanie layered cake are considered as premium, since they use premium and high grade ingredients. by the taste of it, they spoke the truth. It was delicious and hence the price is a bit expensive. We had dinner at a famous kopitiam before returning our car rental and head off to our KL flight.
