My Malaysia - Langkawi 2014 (PART 2)

That morning, we manage to catch sunrise and we walked across the road to have our breakfast at a Malay restaurant – they have nasi lemak, roti canai here. At 8.30 a.m, we wait at the lobby for the tour group to pick us up. The van was empty at first and people keep adding up. We were given stickers and depart in a speedboat at the jetty.

This was my first time visiting island in Langkawi – I have visited Pulau Payar where we swim with reef tip sharks. Langkawi consists of 700 small islands and the journey to the islands is beautiful. The Andaman Sea give out its green turquoise colour with many limestone island and caves visible along the way. Our first stop was Pulau Dayang Bunting or The Pregnant Maiden Island. Here is located a fresh water lake up in the hill of this island. We have to do a short stairs hike up to the lake. The lake is beautiful. I saw some people dip in the lake while we chose to dip our legs in the lake.

The whole area is full of wild monkeys. They are ‘too friendly’ sometimes. We hike back down and board the boat for eagle feeding session at on of the waters. Langkawi is famous for its eagles, hence the name Langkawi cam from the word for eagle in Malay – Helang.

The eagles are huge and beautiful. It has it own elegance when it strides above the waters to snatch some chicken meat they throw out. Our next destination is Pulau Bras Basah. Okay, people tell me this is a snorkeling spot. For experienced snorkeler, this is not a snorkeling spot! It’s a swimming spot. We wasted RM 15 to rent out the snorkel gears. There is no fish at all and the water visibility is very bad.  I can only see sands. We are frustrated to even wet our clothes here. So, travelers out there do not expect to snorkel here. Payar Island provides a better snorkeling experience.

We board the boat and head back to mainland of Langkawi and we reached there around 12.30 p.m. We are tires so we just have some lunch at a pizza joint near the hotel. This evening, we are having a shopping spree. First, we went to the big HiG superharket that sell a lot of things. Let me just say that our trolleys are full with goods. I bought my hand carry luggage here that cost RM99 – it has 4 wheels!
That grey luggage is mine. This is half of the shopping spree.

We bought chocolates lots of it, some ointment and some teapot. Then, we move to various shops in Kuah so Syima can buy her family a Corelle set. I knew the place because my mum loves to shop for Corelle. After a tiring day, we have our dinner at my favourite restaurant which is Wan Thai.

Wan Thai is located at the Kuah town and it serves authentic Thai food – the owner is Thai. We ate the delicious tom yam kung, fish, prawns and even the delicious Pulut Mangga or Mango Sticky Rice. After dinner we made stop at the Night bazaar in Kuah town before heading back to the hotel and pack our stuff which is a lot.
