The best friends.

We had breakfast at the same restaurant as yesterday and we went out for a little adventure. We went to Makam Mahsuri because Syima wants to enter it. Feeza, Kak Pah and myself excuse ourself from the itinerary. We sit down at the stall nearby and have some fresh coconut with Kuih Keria. This kuih is the best in town!

I ended up buying 3 packets to bring back home. We then proceed to the Tanjung Rhu beach. This beach is secluded and is the home for Four Season Langkawi and Tanjung Rhu Beach Resort – the luxurious hotel. There is a security checkpoint here where it states we cannot enter after 5 p.m. The Tanjung Rhu beach is secluded, calm, clean and beautiful than Cenang beach.

Clean, beautiful, calm.

All of us agree that we should have swim here instead. The beach stretch is owned by hotels which leave a small space at the end for public use. Nevertheless, it was beautiful. We went back to the hotel to check out and we go hunting for lunch – Laksa Airport. Laksa is a glass noodle serve with fish broth and the famous stall is located near the airport.

There are a lot of stalls here so we just pick one. The laksa was good and cheap. We were planning to go straight to airport but Syima gave us a shock by saying she wants to do some shopping. What??? So we just follow and went to Kuah so she can buy a teapot set at Idaman Suri. Looking at the clock, you cannot imagine how fast I was driving in Langkawi town.

We reached airport at the nick of time and manage to be in line for bag check in. We go through boarding hall and guess what. Our flight was delayed for 1 hour. We opt to have some Maggi instant noodles at the café. We reached back at KLIA2 safe and sound. Will I visit Langkawi again? Yes!
That morning, we manage to catch sunrise and we walked across the road to have our breakfast at a Malay restaurant – they have nasi lemak, roti canai here. At 8.30 a.m, we wait at the lobby for the tour group to pick us up. The van was empty at first and people keep adding up. We were given stickers and depart in a speedboat at the jetty.

This was my first time visiting island in Langkawi – I have visited Pulau Payar where we swim with reef tip sharks. Langkawi consists of 700 small islands and the journey to the islands is beautiful. The Andaman Sea give out its green turquoise colour with many limestone island and caves visible along the way. Our first stop was Pulau Dayang Bunting or The Pregnant Maiden Island. Here is located a fresh water lake up in the hill of this island. We have to do a short stairs hike up to the lake. The lake is beautiful. I saw some people dip in the lake while we chose to dip our legs in the lake.

The whole area is full of wild monkeys. They are ‘too friendly’ sometimes. We hike back down and board the boat for eagle feeding session at on of the waters. Langkawi is famous for its eagles, hence the name Langkawi cam from the word for eagle in Malay – Helang.

The eagles are huge and beautiful. It has it own elegance when it strides above the waters to snatch some chicken meat they throw out. Our next destination is Pulau Bras Basah. Okay, people tell me this is a snorkeling spot. For experienced snorkeler, this is not a snorkeling spot! It’s a swimming spot. We wasted RM 15 to rent out the snorkel gears. There is no fish at all and the water visibility is very bad.  I can only see sands. We are frustrated to even wet our clothes here. So, travelers out there do not expect to snorkel here. Payar Island provides a better snorkeling experience.

We board the boat and head back to mainland of Langkawi and we reached there around 12.30 p.m. We are tires so we just have some lunch at a pizza joint near the hotel. This evening, we are having a shopping spree. First, we went to the big HiG superharket that sell a lot of things. Let me just say that our trolleys are full with goods. I bought my hand carry luggage here that cost RM99 – it has 4 wheels!
That grey luggage is mine. This is half of the shopping spree.

We bought chocolates lots of it, some ointment and some teapot. Then, we move to various shops in Kuah so Syima can buy her family a Corelle set. I knew the place because my mum loves to shop for Corelle. After a tiring day, we have our dinner at my favourite restaurant which is Wan Thai.

Wan Thai is located at the Kuah town and it serves authentic Thai food – the owner is Thai. We ate the delicious tom yam kung, fish, prawns and even the delicious Pulut Mangga or Mango Sticky Rice. After dinner we made stop at the Night bazaar in Kuah town before heading back to the hotel and pack our stuff which is a lot.

Okay, for my friends who happen to read this blog, they know that I have been to Langkawi a lot that I can even consider it as my second home. For those of you, I truly recommend Langkawi for its beauty, its food and its duty free goods. The summary:

Date: 14th  – 16th  November 2014
Duration: 3D2N
Type: Leisure Girls Trip
Airlines: Air Asia

This time I went with my bestfriends as part of a Bachelorette trip for Kak Pah. All of us bought the tickets pretty early which still cost us RM 154 per person. We book the hotel at Cenang Beach named Mali Beach Resort which is famous for its tree top chalet. Due to last minute bail out and economy reason, we stayed at the beach chalet instead of the tree top chalet.

We have laid out a lot of activities while in Langkawi. Activities I did not do with my family. Parasailing, Island Hoping etc. On that Friday, all 4 of us took a cab from home. Feeza and Kak Pah came to my house and the cab stop at Syima’s place to pick her up. We reached KLIA 2 and checked in the luggage. We depart at 12.30 p.m and reached there 1 hour later.

Reaching the airport, we picked up our car rental which I have prebooked before going off for lunch. We book a MyVi but he gave us a Nissan Latio because Myvi was not available. The price for Langkawi car rental for 3 days is RM 160. I knew Langkawi road at the back of my hand. It is custom in Malaysia that when you get your rental car you fuel meter will indicate almost empty compared to oversea. So, ask for the nearest gas station to fill the tank. I am confident the oil inside is just enough to get to that gas station. -_-“

Our hungry tummy cannot wait anymore. We made a stop at a restaurant in Kuah where I usually had lunch with my family at Nasi Campur Top BBQ restaurant. It provides a generous spreads of Malaysian food – Nasi Campur. Losts of dishes – grill fish, chicken, soup Gear Box – lots! This restaurant serves delicious food with very reasonable price. Let see if I can attached some location or picture okay.

It was almost 3 p.m meaning we can check into the hotel. We drove to Cenang, check in our chalets and rest a bit. Syima wants to do parasailing so we surveyed the watersports counter at the hotel. For locals, parasailing costs around RM60. At first we thought we stayed at the beach but the guy invited us to come along. The sail off was at Pantai Tengah so all of us board the small boat to the beach. Nampak tak harga local dengan harga tourist. Abang tu kata local bg 60 je, kalau tourist bagi 90 ataupun naik sampai 120 untuk parasail. Nadia x lah kot sebab takut ibu tak bagi pulak.

He put Syima on harness, BTW there is the instructor. I acted as her photographer/videographer. She has to made a quick run while the boat pull the parasail and off she goes. They made one quick round and they land at the beach. Syima fell down like face down during landing which made our heart stops. But she manage to run, she stumbles during the end though.

That is Syima BTW.

We went back to Cenang and I quickly go to my favourite spa in Langkawi just across our hotel which is the Alun-Alun Spa. I truly recommend this spa. My family and I tried it once and we always come back for the service. I choose a 1.5 hours Bali massage which I booked earlier and little that I know that Syima choose to go for treatment there as well.

Treatment room

At Alun-Alun, it is a Balinese concept spa. When you arrive, they will bring you a Patio for a foot soak and a ginger tea. The therapist will treat you like a princess. You are given an entire spa suite for yourself. Lockers, toilets and showera are provided in each room – beautifully decorated of course. The massage? Only one word – HEAVENLY. I feel fresh and energize after each massage session. Before going back, they serve another ginger tea with some carrots. For years, I have been a happy customer. Syima gave out the same feedback too! CLICK HERE--->Alum-alun Spa, Langkawi

After spa, we made a deal with Feeza and Kak pah to meet up at the Haji Ramli Restaurant beside the spa. We ate seafood and tomyam. Food was okay but I think it was cheaper the last time I went there in June/ August.

After dinner, we take a walk at Cenang and finally bought the package for tomorrow’s island hoping trip. Most tour offers the same, RM50 per pax.
